Whew! What a weekend!

This past weekend was filled with too many fun things, and too little good sleep! On Friday I traveled to Round Top, TX to attend a retreat. We stayed at this place and oh my goodness! Sounthern Living's got nothin' on this sweet lady that runs the B&B. Her decorating leaves you speechless and her hospitality was top notch! I had a fabulous time getting to know the ladies that I will soon be working with. Yes, working! I am terribly excited! The Lord has opened the door for me to serve as a nursery coordinator at our church. It is definitely a part-time thing, but I am so looking forward to it!

The second thing this weekend was my 30th birthday party. Ugghh! Just so you know, I don't officially turn 30 until Thursday, so I am claiming 29 for as long as I can! However, the party was FANTASTIC! I decided last year that I was tired of always having to have a Halloween themed party. Just because my birthday is the day before the holiday doesn't mean I have to love all things Halloween. So...this year I wanted HOT PINK flamingos for the decor. We asked everyone to dress in hot pink and black....and amazingly most people did. Even many of the men. I must have a pretty strong power of persuasion!

Here are the party preparations in progress (how's that for a little alliteration?!). My parents host all of our (mine, Chris, my brother, and sister-in-love) birthday parties. They have the perfect backyard for such events...and the weather was amazing!

Chris, are you working or playing??

(notice the flamingo lights...my mom can find anything!)

Carson enjoy the party prep.

Also enjoying the bubble machine my mom bought!

My sweet nephew and I. I cannot believe he is 11 already!!

The Smith family. Yes, I bought Chris a pink shirt and guilted him into wearing it. But I just couldn't do the same for Carson. The husband can pull off the pink...not so sure the 7 month old could.

I'm lovin' this face. "Seriously mom, can you take the plastic tiara off me now!?"
The birthday cake...with flamingos, of course!

The boys in pink and black.

My dad....the hired entertainment :)

Kara and her hot pink dress. She found this at an estate sell. For real??

My t-shirt quilt! For each of our 30th birthdays, my mom and grandmother give us a t-shirt quilt. Mine consists of shirts from elementary, j-high, and high school. Notice the GA's shirt on there?? Any old school Baptists out there that loved their GA days?!

Stayton and Kim roasting marsh mellows on the fire pit!

All partied out!

My husband...gotta love him!
It was a fantastic party! Thank you mom and dad for hosting and planning it all. Thank you sweet friends for coming out to celebrate. Thank you Lord that I still have 4 more days of my twenties!

After the retreat and birthday party, we had Carson's baby dedication at church on Sunday morning...whew! This was such a sweet time for our family. To stand before our church and verbally commit our son to the Lord. To vow to raise him according to the Lord's instructions and to honor Christ in our home.

Yes, our child was the baby that cried during the service. Perfect.

All in all, it was a busy but wonderful weekend!!

Wow we can't believe our baby girl is "30" it really does seem like yesterday that you were Carson's age. We are so proud of you as a daughter, mom and wife. You gave me a little wooden sign when you were in college that says "There's no greater joy than knowing your children walk with the Lord" I love it and a I keep by the kitchen sink as a reminder how Blessed dad and I are! (even though the sign is kinda out dated and country, the meaning is forever) The party was fun so glad you enjoyed it but the dedication was great!! Mimi x/o

Happy birthday, Callie! That is such a cool idea to do a quilt for the 30th birthday. Those t-shirts were taking me way back!

The party was great. Cade is still talking about "Nate" and his guitar and motorcycle. One of his lullabye CD's that is acoustic guitar is now called "Nate". :) And, everytime we pass a motorcyle Cade says "Nate, motorcycle...helmet on" Nice, huh! Anyway, love that picture of Carson with the tiara on, his face is priceless!

Hey Callie... I guess we are both officially old this month. I don't have your email address (I need it), but I wanted to send this info about Kellie's mom along. Please pray!

Hi everyone.
Kellie asked me to send out an update/prayer request for her. As she told you a week or so ago, her mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Since then, the Doctors have told them it's terminal. Mrs. Hicks will have surgery on Thursday morning at MD Anderson in Houston to remove what they can. They will try to
get the rest with chemo and radiation following the surgery. Please pray for Mrs. Hicks, and for Kellie and the rest of her family. As you can imagine
this is a very scary situation. We know God still works miracles and that is what we are praying for.
First, for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. That the side effects from the surgery would be minimal if any at all. Next for the road ahead. Total and
complete healing! Pray also for God's peace and comfort to each of them as they walk through this.

I know Kellie is so thankful for each of you! She told me she wished she could call all of you personally. I will do my best to get updates out as soon as I receive them.
Thank you for your prayers and support!

Happy 30th birthday! The party was great fun! Your mom really knows how to throw a party.
Love the quilt..... I now have the GA song stuck in my head. Thanks a lot.

PS Molly took home a birthday "Crown" and hasn't taken it off yet. She has slept with it and worn it everywhere we have gone since Sunday.
